Today, an Italian court handed down another guilty verdict to Amanda Knox in the 2007 murder of then roommate, Meredith Kercher. Knox’s ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, was also re-convicted of the crime.
The first time the pair was convicted of murdering 21 year old Kercher was in 2009, but in 2011, the verdict was overturned by an Italian appeals court. In March 2013, the Italian Supreme Court overturned the acquittal, saying that there were discrepancies in the testimony that was given at trial and the jury did not consider all of the evidence presented to them.
Sollecito, currently in Italy, was sentenced once again to 25 years in prison. Things are more complicated for Knox, who was given 28 1/2 years in prison due to the murder conviction as well as an additional conviction of slander. While she is currently in the US, Italy may soon ask…
